About the Event

This annual event raises funds to support the work and mission of Friend for Life Cancer Support Network. The evening features a buffet dinner, cash bar, silent auction including unique travel experiences, awards, and a special VIP hour.

About Bob Valvano's Fight Against Cancer

Cancer advocacy has long been deeply personal for Bob Valvano, the younger brother of legendary NC State basketball coach Jim Valvano, whose battle led to the creation of The V Foundation. That legacy hit home in a profound, personal way in April 2021 when Bob was diagnosed with Stage 4 Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). Facing intense chemotherapy and severe physical challenges with the same warmth and trademark humor he brings to his broadcasts, Bob fought the disease into remission later that same year—benefiting directly from modern, research-funded targeted therapies. Today, as a living testament to the power of cancer research, Bob serves on the board of The V Foundation and leads the local nonprofit Kentuckiana Friends of V, continuing to raise critical funds and inspire hope in the fight to eradicate cancer.
